The Big Diamond Jubilee Read

Oxford Owl

Will your children be crowned Diamond Readers and Diamond Writers in our exciting new competition with The National Literacy Trust?

To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and get children excited about reading and writing, we are running a competition in schools with some fantastic prizes up for grabs!

The competition in a nutshell…

To mark the Queen’s 60 year reign, members of the Royal Family are going on a tour of the Commonwealth. By taking part in The Big Diamond Jubilee Read your children will set off on their very own tour too, moving around Commonwealth countries on a fun classroom wall map as they read their chosen books. We’ve added a writing element to the competition for your children to enjoy too: This gives them the chance to share their thoughts about their favourite book with a child in another Commonwealth country. Speak to your child’s school to find out whether this is something they are taking part in.

The competition will run from Monday 16 April until Friday 29 June 2012. Schools can take part in both elements of the competition or choose just the Diamond Reader or Diamond Writer. Find out more about The Big Diamond Jubilee Read.

Share your Jubilee Story

Aside from the main competition there will also be the chance for schools to share their Jubilee stories on Radiowaves – which is a safe social network especially designed for schools. By sharing their Jubilee story you and your children will have the chance to win more prizes.
